Archie Kift, son of Nathan and Katie Kift  was born on 4th August at 1.30 in the morning, 8 weeks early weighing only 1lb 15 ounces. He spent 7 weeks in Gloucester Royal Hospital's Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).

Without the expert care given to him during these first 8 weeks Archie would not be here.

We are fundraising to for the unit and their associated charity, the Scoo B Doo Fund, please take a look at their website www.scoo-b-doo.co.uk/

You can learn more about Archie's first 3 months, and SCBU on the About Page.

Nathan Kift, and his brother Craig Jackson are going to do a sponsored drive from Gloucester to Venice, and back (1600 miles) in Nathan's Smart car. Not much room for luggage!

Please read about the ways you can make a contribution on the Donate page.

We lost count of the nurses and Doctors that looked after Archie. Providing him with 24 hour care. Without the individuals in SCBU, Archie would not be here. They also helped Kate and I through a very tough time, full with highs and lows.

We also spent 3 weeks in the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at the hospital. It was so important for us to be close to Archie during his initial period in hospital. That charity's webpage is http://www.rmhc.org.uk/. The charity funds accommodation for parents and family members of children who are in hospital.

Archie is now at home and weighs a massive 7lb 15 ounces! (22-11-07). The photo to the left was taken a few days ago.

He's our little star, and very precious to the whole family. We are all just so pleased to have him home and will always remember what SCBU have given us.

Gloucester Royal Hospital's Special Care Baby Unit.

Scoo-B-Doo is a registered charity, raising funds to help provide life saving equipment for the Special Baby Care Unit (SCBU) at Gloucestershire Royal NHS Trust. By giving your time, or a donation, you can help us ensure that our babies continue to receive the best possible care.

For more than twenty years, Scoo-B-Doo has been working alongside Gloucestershire Royal's Spceial Care Baby Unit to help buy the best and most advanced equipment for their tiny patients.

Financial constraints, however, mean that the Gloucestershire Royal NHS Trust has less and less money to use for new equipment. Which means that today, their fundraising role is more challenging than ever before.

SCOO-B-DOO Events:

Archie's Dad, Nathan Kift, and Archie's uncle Craig Jackson will drive Nathan's Smart car (right) from Gloucester to Venice (Via Paris and Milan) to raise money for the Scoo-B Doo fund. It is expected the trip will take about 10 days, using as few 'motorways' as possible.

Nathan and Craig are planning on updated the 'blog' on a daily basis during the trip.

Please help by sponsoring Nathan and Craig. Every donation will go to the Scoo-B -Doo fund. There will also be the opportunity for companies to sponsor the car and buy web space on this website.  Please visit the 'donate' page for more info.
